Comptia A+/Network+ worth it?

I have my undergraduate degree in linguistics, no experience in IT or computer science. I was thinking of getting my certs in a+/network+, gain some experience at a help desk, and then get my CCNA cert after a few months. How is it breaking into this field without ANY prior experience?
