Just the Tip of the Iceberg

It took me 6 years to graduate college with a bachelor's in Physics. This was primarily due to me being irresponsible in many aspects. I developed an interest in IT late in my college career and it was too late to switch majors. Post graduation last December I struggled to get a job in IT so I worked as a court reporter for the last six months with no end in sight. During this time I was also under investigation for a clearance, but honestly I didn't expect that to pan out. With absolutely no IT experience I was told that the clearance route was my best bet. Anyone can be taught IT, but not everyone can obtain cleared status.

I can happily report I was adjudicated the first week of August and I just started as a Help Desk Specialist for a government contracting company on a currently active contract. My career has a long way to go, but I'm finally in the right place for it to start. Never thought this is where I would be at this junction in life, but sometimes things just work out.

I wanted to post this for folks to read that want to break into the IT field, but have no credentials. It is possible.
