Looking for advice on what laptop to get

I need general advice on a laptop to get for a newcomer to the IT field. Currently I'm planning on enrolling in Google's online IT Support cert program and I'm studying for CompTIA A+ so I'm looking to hone my skills (i.e. running VM's) so I need a laptop that can handle the workload. I'm not looking to spend too much $$$$& but also I'm not lowballing and saying my budget is $500 either lol so far 2 laptops that seem to suffice are the Asus Vivobook 15 and the Lenovo Flex 5. I need advice from hear for better options or if I'm on the right track
