Questions on IT Degree

I have a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and decided to pursue a degree in the IT sector. Would my best option be to go back to school and get a bachelors in IT or try to pursue a masters? Also, are there certain pre-requisites I must take in order to even enroll for an IT Masters? Will certs also be highly beneficial to landing an IT job?
