Associates degree vs tech training?

I’m not in a position at the moment to pursue a bachelors quite yet. Life happens. Anyway, I am trying to get into IT and I’ve been told using sites like Coursera to get some certifications is just as good as an associates from my local community college. What are the pros and cons from those of you in the field? If getting certifications are better, which are in your opinion the top certifications to prioritize?
