Degree Options/Certifications for a beginner in IT

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this and I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give me as I don’t have any experience in IT.

I would like to eventually down the road become a Computer Information System Manager. I very much enjoy project management and I have nearly 5 years experience in a junior capacity in the real estate investment and construction fields. I’ve continuously seen my future self in that line of work, however because of recent events and looking farther in the future and my physical and mental well being, I’ve come to the conclusion that the information technology sector would be a great fit for me. The job security/stability, salary, and retirements aspects appear to be increased and stress levels and demanding physical activity seem to to be somewhat less, especially the physical activity.

From the research I’ve done so far, it appears that a good path would be to get an associates degree in information technology or computer science at the local community college and then transferring to the local state university for a bachelors degree in computer science with a minor in business administration and then afterwards get an MBA.

Or

Get a business information workers associates degree and transfer to the local state university for a bachelors in business administration with a major in Management Information Systems and minor in computer science. And afterwards get an MBA.

I do enjoy the project management greatly, however I don’t have much experience in the science field of computer development. Also I’ve heard it is easier to get an entry level IT job with a information technology or a computer science degree over a business worker and/or information management systems degrees, as jobs that utilize these degrees in management usually require more it experience/education rather than just stepping into management right away.

With that being said, I plan on continuing my work in construction/investment project management after the coronavirus, however the general contractor I work for has nonchalantly said he is considering retiring early, before his 5 year intended retirement date, so with that being said, if that indeed does happen and he retires earlier than expected, then it is important to me that I be able to get a job in Computer Information Systems/IT, which would mean having an associates degree in a field that I can get into and start my experience in that industry and continue to pay for my education/bills and that will probably be easiest through an associates degree in information technology.

The reasons behind my primary choice to become an information systems manager or an IT project manager is because I’m an empathetic person, driven, tech-savvy, and solution oriented so it’s enjoyable for me to lead people, achieving goals as a team, managing budgets, keeping up to date with new technology, and training/educating people. I would say my two best skills are my communication with my team, management, and clients and the other is my ability to problem solve. Both skills I thoroughly enjoy and I believe they will be a perfect fit in information systems management.

What would be your recommendation for a degree path based on this information?

Also I did some early research on what certifications a beginner in IT should have and I came up with:

Google IT Support Professional Certificate Google IT Automation w/ Python Professional Certification

CompTIA ITF+ CompTIA A+ CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ CompTIA Project+

IBM Key Technologies for Business Specialization IBM AI Foundations for Business Specialization IBM Data Science Professional Certificate IBM Customer Engagement Specialist Professional Certificate

ITIL® 4 Foundation Certification Training Course

Are there a handful certifications from this list that you would recommend based on the background information I provided?
