Has anyone ever tried using a capo (clip for guitar strings) to hold your ethernet cables while crimping?

Hi I'm new to the field, like second week of training new after getting my A+. Today we were working on replacing a rj45 clip and my trainer was showing me how to hold and line the wires up.

He said it can be a pain to keep them just right. On my way home I thought about how a capo might be just right as far as width and grip strength to hold it in place while you manipulate and crimp the cap.

Has anyone tried this? Am I over complicating something that comes with practice?
