I think I may have fucked up my career permanently
So,
I had an experience working for a recruiting company that was, let's put it as not good.
I got fired two weeks in for my "attitude". I moved states for the position, and had a couple of mishaps. Firstly, I had a coworker who kept giving me basic instruction on how to listen during training, take notes etc.. I ended up telling him that I appreciate the help but if I needed help I'd reach out to him, and that I think I got it from here. AS well, I gave a coworker an awkward compliment via messenger system, asked her how smart she thought she was. We previously were chatting for weeks, I thought the comfortability was there. I followed it by because I think you're pretty smart (she caught on quickly etc.). I also helped her during training, and I know she appreciated it. Anyway, she was uncomfortable most likely because she didnt reply and I stopped engaging with her out of respect. As well, I made a joke during a team meeting that was totally sarcastic, but I didnt change the tone of my voice. I think they thought I was being serious, in which I tried to make the content sound ridiculous enough that they would have to know I'm not being serious.
I get a call from my recruiter. They told me that the manager has had complaints about my attitude, and they are going to fire me. A lot of the stuff/feedback they mention never happened - manager claimed I muttered under my breath at her, called my trainer "condescending' ( told my cubicle mate I found the guy coming over to my desk to give me instruction condescending, who was not the trainer)
I went the next day to the facility and used my badge to get in, but there was a lot of people before me. The system must have registered the swipe but it was probably deactivated. I went to talk to my manager, as these things were I deemed miscommunications, I had moved for the job and these could also be fully rectified easily. She wasn't there so I spoke with HR, who was very combative, so I just very plainly told my side and left. My recruiter got word that I went after being fired, I know not good. I was hoping that we would all move forward from this as a big misunderstanding, but just made the situation even worse.
Now, I know they put me on a do not hire list, as my recruiter told me this. I cannot get a successful placement or completed interview/submit from any recruiting firm in the area. I think word may have traveled around? It's not a big metro area and, I'm sure they consider this an offense that's egregious. I know, I'm an idiot. I dont know what to do. I'm worried that if word did travel around, all these staffing agencies may have added this information to their internal resources as well, if this is the case. I have an awesome resume, and I don't think I should be experiencing this much trouble. I'm also not the best candidate for full-time roles since I normally work contracts, and play music for a couple months/years until I run out of money, living off savings from the contracts. This was during my 20s and I recently turned 30. I'm looking to grow and take my career seriously.
